Discover the AHS Archive collections

The AHS Archives, housed at our headquarters in the City of London, offer a fascinating window onto the art and history of time measurement. Spanning around 80 linear metres, these collections bring together original and largely unpublished research, notes, manuscripts, photographs, catalogues, and more—painstakingly assembled by experts, enthusiasts, and members of the AHS over many decades.

Many of these archives were donated or bequeathed by their creators, while others were passed down and later gifted to the Society. Wherever possible, we preserve and catalogue collections under the name of the individual who first gathered them, ensuring their legacy endures.

From handwritten manuscripts to rare glass-plate photographs, from repair records to curated albums of newspaper clippings, and from trade literature to personal correspondence, the AHS Archive collections are a treasure trove for researchers, historians, and anyone with a passion for horology. Cataloguing this vast resource is an ongoing endeavour, and new material is regularly added.
