About the Turret Clock Group

The AHS Turret Clock Group was founded in 1973. Group members share an interest in all turret clocks and public timekeeping, from the early beginnings in the 14th century, through flatbed industrial clocks, up to relatively modern synchronous and impulse driven dials.

Group members cover a wide spectrum, from modest collectors and those just starting out, to seasoned and experienced experts such as diocesan clock advisers, historians, makers and restorers. All are welcome.

The Group arranges meetings, tours and events that bring members together and offer visits to clock installations in churches and other public buildings where access may be restricted.

The Group promotes knowledge and interest in turret clocks to encourage their future preservation. Its database is world-leading, providing an ever-growing record of clock installations in the aid of research, preservation and maintenance. Group members have expertise in clock conservation and manufacture as well as historical and technical knowledge. The Group can answer technical enquiries, which should be addressed to the AHS Secretary.

If you are not a member but are interested in joining, please contact the AHS Secretary, bearing in mind that membership is only open to members of the AHS. You can indicate your interest in the TCG when you join the Society. For details of future meetings, please contact the AHS TCG Secretary.
